Enable Upload IP

Menu Location: Settings - This Computers IP Address - Enable Upload IP

Enable only if needed, else disable. Also see Use Top IP Address in conjunction with this.

Not necessary if you have a static ip address. Helps if you have a constantly changing dynamic ip address.

This feature helps one find their Video Monitoring Software Program running on their computer remotely over the internet e.g. from any web browser on the internet when one is away from home or the office. This helps one remotely view their site or review captured video files. This feature works buy uploading the IP address of  the Video Monitoring Software computer to a remote server at www.fgeng.com. So when one wants to find their computer, just visit www.fgeng.com and click on the link to their computer to access their own running Video Monitoring Software program. Upload IP tries to determine when you are connected to the internet and if so upload the current IP to the remote server. It checks about once every minute. You can enable or disable this feature.

Enable Upload of IP Address
To Enable this feature place a check mark beside, no check mark to disable it. About 10 seconds after this item has been selected the program will try to upload the IP address, otherwise about every one minute or so. It will keep trying to upload the computer's ip address until it succeeds. There after it will upload the ip address about once every three hours.

Address of Remote Server
This field requires the address of the remote server at www.fgeng.com. Visit www.fgeng.com to find out what the current address for the server is, and enter that value in this field. Note: from time to time the Remote Server Address will be changed, therefore please visit the site occasionally to check for the new current address.

Show Uploaded Attempt Errors in Status Bar
Check item to display and save results in file of attempts to upload the IP Address to the remote server.

Use IP Address

Allows user to manually specify which IP address the program should use. Place check mark beside this item to use the IP address entered into the text box beside it. Use it to access Video Monitoring Software program through a router or bridge onto your local area network e.g. this IP address is the IP address of the router on the Internet, then the router will direct packets to Video Monitoring Software program on the local area network. Features effected by this parameter is the address for the Live Video Feed for a remote Media Player, also the IP address sent to the remote server with Upload IP feature. Effects the IP address shown in, List This Computer's IP Address. If checked local computer IP addresses are not shown, but only the IP address you entered. If checked, then doing a local video feed in Live Mode cannot be done i.e. on the local computer or in the local LAN network, only remote live video feeds on the other side of the router, else use the Manual Method to do a live video feed from anywhere you would like i.e. put program in Live Mode, and enter an IP address into Media Player directly. This IP address does not effect the IP Address specified in the Video Monitoring Software Web Server, they are independent. Leave this item unchecked unless you cannot access the program through a bridge or router.

For Upload IP to work, Use Top IP Address must be set correctly.

There is a file in c:\program files\site monitor, called FindMyIP.htm. Edit this file and put it on your mobile device for a quick way to find your Video Monitoring Software System IP address on the internet. Handy if you have a changing dynamic ip address.
