- Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows 2008,Vista,2003,XP, 2000, NT, Me, 98, 95, (Smartphone, Pocket PC)
- Computer: Optimum: 1 GHz CPU
(Intel or AMD), 128 MB Memory, 40 GB hard drive.
Minimum: 160 MHz CPU, 64 MB memory, 2 GB hard drive. - a camera or cameras
- a compatible video capture device.
- Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.4 or greater.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater.
- Microsoft Outlook Express or Windows Mail to use e-mail alarms.
- A Sound Card installed on the computer for sound alarms.
- 50MB of hard disk space for initial setup space on the C: drive.
- An internet connection if using the Surveillance WebCam remote access features.
- (Use the latest version of DirectX on your computer if possible)
Recommended Video Hardware and Drivers
For best program performance the following video hardware is recommended.
- Read Best Surveillance WebCam Configurations
- 4 Port Video Capture Card from FG Engineering with driver. For Windows NT4 use driver.
- or Hauppauge PCI Video Capture Card with a Conexant chip on it eg. WinTV Go PCI capture board. Use driver or for Windows NT4 use driver.
- A Generic PCI 4 Port Video Capture Card with a Conexant chip on it. Use driver, for 2008,Vista use driver.
- ViewCast Osprey-100 Video Capture Card with it's VFW drivers.
- A Logitech USB Video Camera. Use the most current video driver..
Video driver version 6.x works fine. - Many More Compatible Cards click here e.g. ATI TV Wonder PCI, X10 USB
- Other cameras, capture boards or drivers may vary in their degree of quality and compatibility with this software. There is a universal video capture driver that works with many PCI Conexant based video capture cards that might be worth trying if you are having video driver problems.
How to Test if Surveillance WebCam Software is compatible with your own video capture device.
Hauppauge and Logitech are good quality cameras and drivers, popular, widely available and are not expensive. Logitech USB cameras range in price from $29-$99 US - see www.logitech.com. Hauppauge WinTV Go PCI capture boards cost about $59 US. These are good for using with this software and attaining the end goal of Video Monitoring.
Note: Multi-camera configurations are supported on a variety of video capture cards or video capture devices which have RCA or BNC analog video input connectors e.g. 4 Port Video Capture Card, WinTV Go PCI Video Capture Card with our video multiplexer card. To use 8 or 11 cameras our 8 port video multiplexer card is needed for the video capture device. Or use our multi-port video capture cards to use 4,8, or 11 cameras. Multi-camera configurations are not support on USB connectorized cameras which plug directly into a USB port e.g. Logitech cameras - in this case Surveillance WebCam software will work with the one USB camera, but cannot be expanded to more than one camera. If using the Hauppauge WinTV Go be sure to use the PCI type of card.
Mobile Devices to Connect to Surveillance WebCam Software
Video Surveillance WebCam Software and Systems by FG Engineering can be remotely accessed through the internet by some Smartphone cell phones and Pocket PC handheld computers. To remotely view live video and audio:
