Example Remote View Manual Method

The manual method for viewing the video stream consists of the remote user manually opening Windows Media Player on their computer, and entering the IP address in Windows Media Player in order to connect to the live video stream.

Remote View of Live Streaming Video

  1. connect to the Video Surveillance WebCam Software with your browser
  2. go to Admin Page
  3. click on the Remote View shortcut link at the top of the page.
  4. click enter on link, Stream live video , with config file: 1
  5. click on link, Get Live Streaming Video Port, and note what the port number is.
  6. open and run Windows Media Player, do menu item File, Open URL, and enter
    http://IpAddress:Port
    then click OK
(where IpAddress is the current IP address of your computer, and Port is live streaming video port obtained above.)

Result: you should see live video being streaming into Windows Media Player on your computer.

If you were connecting from the internet and using a router or modem-router, the IPAddress would be your router's ip address as seen from the internet ie WAN address.

The manual method worth learning because it works with any type of internet connection, it does not need the links in the Media Page, and is good for testing if router or router-modem video streaming port is open and thus configured right.
