Example File Streaming Manual Method
Make sure File Streaming is up and running:
- From the Video Surveillance WebCam Software click on menu item Settings, File
Streaming, put a check mark beside Use
File Streaming. Result: you should see the Stream File Program, and
Windows Media Encoder showing "Encoder Broadcasting".
Remote View of File Streaming
- connect to the Video Surveillance WebCam Software
with your
browser
- go to Admin Page
- click on the File Streaming shortcut link at the top of the page.
- click enter on link, Run File Streaming program, if not running yet.
- click on link, Get Stream File Video Port, and note what the port
number is.
- open Windows Media Player, do menu item File, Open URL, and enter
http://IpAddress:Port
then click OK
(where IpAddress is the IP address of your computer, and Port is Stream
File Video Port number.)
Result: Windows Media Player should automatically popup, connect to the file streaming, and start playing video in
Windows Media Player.
If you were connecting from the internet and using a router or modem-router,
the IPAddress would be your router's ip address as seen from the internet ie WAN
address.
The manual method worth learning because it works with any type of internet
connection, it does not need the links in the Media
Page, and is good for testing if router or router-modem video streaming port
is open and thus configured right.
