Dynamic DNS

Dynamic DNS is way to find your router's address on the internet. So when your away from home you can remotely access your computer with the Video Surveillance WebCam Software on it. You would enter something like mycomputer.dyndns.org in your web browser, which would then connect you to your computer on the internet running the Video Surveillance WebCam Software.

Some routers have the Dynamic DNS feature. Example LinkSys or D-Link routers. If so then you can use this feature.

You need to go to www.dyndns.org and setup account for the Dynamic DNS Service. It may or may not be free. They will then issue you your own URL like mycomputer.dyndns.org, and give you a user name, password, and Server Address.

Then in your router, at your discretion configure the Dynamic DNS feature.

Example for the D-Link DI-604 router with Firmware 3.52

In the Dynamic DNS settings, enter

Server Address = DynDns.org
Host Name = mycomputer.dyndns.org or what ever they give you.
User = your user name
Password = your password

Under Virtual Server open the ports of your router for the Video Surveillance WebCam Software, port 80,90,1048,8080,8081

Private IP = computers ip address in your LAN
Private Port = 90
Public Port = 90

and repeat the process for all the ports that need opening.

After enter your router's URL like mycomputer.dyndns.org as above in the Video Surveillance WebCam Software under menu item Send IP Address Settings, IP/URL..= mycomputer.dyndns.org Then do menu item Settings, Save Configuration. Now the router links in the Admin Page will work for doing Remote Viewing.
